Community Engagement Initiative – COVID Tests
On Tuesday, November 17, the Oakwood University Church (OUC) in partnership with Huntsville Hospital, administered Covid-19 Tests to community residents, church members, and students. Expecting approximately 200 persons to utilize this service, Huntsville Hospital brought tests to accommodate this number. Nevertheless, prior to 1:00 pm, the stated time of completion, 259 tests had been given and all tests had been exhausted with instructions given to those remaining in the testing line to consider an alternate testing site. While testing began at 9:00 am in the OUC Family Life Center parking lot, individuals arrived as early as 7:45 am to receive this service. One test recipient commented, “This was a great event, awesome turnout, and smooth process!” The OUC thanks the Huntsville Hospital Mobile Medical Unit and Covid-19 Testing Team for a very successful community engagement event. The fourth and final OUC community engagement initiative for the month of November will take place Tuesday, November 24, as the Oakwood University Church will offer a massive “Thanksgiving Food Giveaway.” All are invited to attend.
Thank you so much for providing the COVID testing to me and the rest of the community. I’ve been put on part-time work and lost my insurance. I’m retired and I didn’t have the money to pay for COVID testing at the local place I’ve been going for free testing. Now that the virus is so bad, I really needed this test. God bless Oakwood University Church for making this possible for me, especially at this time.
God is good! So glad we could be of service Gerald and blessings to you and family.
